Who?

Black Monkey Coffee is a brand that comes from the scenic Ghats of Coorg. They specialise in single estate coffee and mainly operate as B2B and looking to expand into D2C sector.

What they needed.

The brand approached Digitingo with a requirement of a new packaging design, that they could leverage to attract new clients and Direct Customers. Their current packaging and logo were done locally and very simple with little appeal to a large coffee audience who have access to bands like Blue Tokai and Third Wave Coffee which are from the same region.

Our Solution

We suggested modifying the logo to appear more friendly and created a new colour based minimal packaging that could potentially attract more customers while on shelf. I came up with 2 brand solutions for the different target audience. Both the ideas were based on the origin of the coffee being the Western Ghat Mountains which hold a unique perspective. The idea was to make the audience aware of the origin and organic nature of the coffee. The B2B packaging was an exaggerated silhouette of the logo to resemble an abstract mountain. Where as the the D2C package was the silhouette of a mountain resembling the Western Ghats.
